Abstract

The report studies the chemical quality of the water in the existing aqueduct of California (Santander). It describes the situation and suggests two possible solutions: 1) Conditioning the aqueduct, including catchment, pipeline improvement, raw water tank, and sand and activated carbon filters. 2) Capture the water from the sources Aburrido N° 1 and Aburrido N° 2, and pipe it to the present pipeline, dispensing only with the elevated raw water tank. Finally, he makes some annotations regarding isolated cases of goiter or goiter presented in the population and its possible causes in some regions of Colombia, citing cases in England and Scotland regarding the content of iodine, mineral substances, and hardness in drinking water.
