Notes on the lithology and tectonics of the area east and southeast of Bogotá

Abstract
This report studies formations of the Cretaceous zone located on the northwestern edge of the Quetame Massif.
The lithological characteristics of the formations included in the three groups of which almost all authors agree: the Cáqueza, the Villeta, and the Guadalupe are described.
Only the highest part has been studied of the former, thus including a period between the Hauterivian and the Maastrichtian. The lowest part of the Tertiary is represented by the Guaduas Formation (BÜRGL).
These formations are of marine origin, except for the Guaduas, on which all authors agree on its continental origin.
Interesting structures have been observed: the Une syncline in a central position, and the Choachí and Bogotá anticlines, to the east and west of the Une syncline, respectively. Other tectonically important facts are the tilting of the western flank of the Bogota anticline, the occurrence of a graben that to some extent constitutes the northern development of the Une syncline, and the presence of numerous faults transverse to the structures.
Finally, it should be noted that the tectonic style is rigid in the parts closest to the city of Bogotá up to the Cruz Verde high, being individualized by faults that limit small blocks, becoming softer to the south.
Subfoldings, with axes parallel to the main ones, affect all formations.
