Abstract

In the department of Norte de Santander, a geological reconnaissance of the region located at the confluence of the Catatumbo and Orú rivers was carried out to define if phosphate deposits existed there. The analysis of the samples obtained from the most favorable strata gave percentages of P205 between 0, 1.7%, and 1.33%, indicating that the phosphoric content of such rocks is too low to be considered sources of phosphate supplies.
