Abstract
Per the National Government's desire to integrate the Sumapaz region into the capital's economy, measures are being taken to make it better known using an aerial photogrammetric survey that relies on the use of high-flying aircraft (11,000 m). Among the complementary measures is the exploration of subsoil resources, based on information provided by Dr. Peregrino Ossa on the vast limestone deposit of Cueva del Cobre, a copper ore deposit south of Gutiérrez and another of galena in the Nevado River, a tributary of the Ariari. By the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum Resolutions Nos. 225, 287, and 302 the preliminary study was ordered with a term of 14 days. Unfortunately, due to bad weather and mobilization difficulties, only the limestone and copper deposits of Hoya del Cobre could be covered.
