Abstract

This paper describes the Lamellibranchs, and Gastropods collected by Dr. Hans Bürgl, Chief Paleontologist of the Paleontology Section, in the departments of Atlántico and Bolívar.

The material collected in 37 different stations comprises 93 species, of which 18 from Colombia are cited for the first time, and 26 did not exist in the collections of the Geological Museum. All this material is deposited in the National Geological Museum.

Regarding the age of the fossils, this is determined in a general and provisional way, waiting for a better knowledge of the Tertiary of Colombia, which we hope to achieve soon with the study of the microfauna.

Except for one form (Unio bitumen COOKE), which corresponds to the Upper Oligocene, the others belong to the marine Miocene.

To facilitate the knowledge of paleontology in the country, all the descriptions are presented in Spanish, having closely followed the original descriptions or those of later authors, which appear in English, mainly.
