Abstract

For some time, the country has been looking with a great interest to export coal of the Colombian West and especially of those of the Valley. Complete studies, with the same purpose, have also been carried out on the coals of the eastern zone of the department of Magdalena, in the region of El Cerrejón.

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, in its eagerness to collaborate in the mining development of Colombia, has always been ready to lend its contingent to any enterprise. F or this reason, and given the request made by the interested parties, a visit to the interesting coal deposits of La Jagua de Ibirico has been carried out, a visit ordered by Resolution number 982 of September 23, 1954.

With the mentioned deposit, the country's coal potential has practically increased.
