Abstract
Using a palynological analysis, it has been possible to date the sediments located in the Araracuara area that are currently known as Upper Amazonian Tertiary as Upper Oligocene to Lower Miocene. These sediments were deposited in a low sinuosity fluvial system with a westward transport direction. The samples studied come from floodplain deposits and reflected a paleo flora, which is broadly like the present vegetation of the area.
