Abstract
During the February 1954, the undersigned carried out the study of the southern area of the cement factory "El diamante" in Apulo, Cundinamarca, and observed the following stratigraphic profile:
Upper Middle Albian with Oxytropidoceras over 150 m
Lower Middle Albian with Dipolceras 530 m
Lower Albian with Colombiceras karsteni 30 - 50 m
Upper Aptian with Acanthohoplites and Dufrenoya 325
Aptiano Inefrior with Cheloniceras 300 - 630 m
Barremian with Nickelesia and Pseudoglauconia 180 m
Hauterivian without fossils over 100 m
The total thickness of this series is 1600-1940 m, which, compared to the thicknesses of the corresponding layers around Pacho and Muzo, is relatively small.
The most striking structure is the Apulo anticline, which has an NNE-SSW direction. This anticline is accompanied in the SE and NW by synclines. At the western limit of the studied region, the Lower Cretaceous layers rise to the west. It is very likely that they are in tectonic contact with the Upper Cretaceous layers of the Cerro de Guacara, to the west of the Bogotá River.
There are indications that this Apulo dislocation belongs to the same tectonic system as the overflow observed along the Minero River at Muzo.
