Abstract
Even though several hydrological, hydrogeological, and sanitary studies have been carried out to supply drinking water to Sincelejo, an important commercial center of the department of Bolivar, this municipality still has no aqueduct, and the people suffer from the lack of water.
In consideration of these circumstances, the Governor of the Department, Dr. Raul H. Barrios, requested from the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum a hydrogeological study which, if favorable conditions were found, would determine how to begin preliminary hydrological works and the construction of the aqueduct itself as soon as possible. Accordingly, Dr. Pedro Nel Rueda Uribe, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, commissioned the undersigned by Resolution 621 of 1953 to carry out this study.
The undersigned is grateful to Dr. Eustorgio Alcacer, Mayor of Sincelejo, Dr. Humberto Vergara Prado, M.D. and Marco Vergara Otero, lawyer, and all the people who gave attention and help to the commission.
