Abstract
The department of Santander has the following coal zones the uncovered strip covered by the foot of the Eastern Cordillera, the area of Molagavita and Capitanejo, and the Almorzadero Paramo area to the E and SE of the monument of the pass. The Páramo del Almorzadero zone is the most valuable coal zone in Santander due to the quality of the coal found there; in this zone the climatic and geological conditions, the state of the land routes, the volumes of exploitation, and the results obtained from the chemical quality analysis are detailed. The coal deposits in Molagavita are located on the slopes of a high ridge connected to the cordon that separates the Malaga and Molagavita pits. This report also describes the geology of this area and the facilities at the time of exploration and exploitation.
Finally, a complete analysis of coal is presented for each sample examined with specifications of the percentage of moisture, ash, coke, fixed carbon in the sample, volatile elements and water of combustion, and the calorimetric value.
