Abstract

This report highlights the importance of groundwater as an essential element in modern human activities. It summarizes the work done on this subject in Colombia, with a view to expansion in favor of national progress and the desirability of close collaboration with exploitation technicians. The archive and the bibliographical appendix illustrate the procedures and studies carried out to date in hydrogeology. A table of boreholes shows the importance that groundwater supply and the drilling industry have already acquired in Colombia. The future is promising because, alongside the large Quaternary groundwater reserves, rock water reserves are ubiquitous, although generally less prolific than those. In addition, hydrogeology would collaborate in the use of surface water.
