Abstract
The La Bramadora Reservoir in Sopetrán, Antioquia, Colombia, is subject to a torrential regime, which has allowed the accumulation of at least 950 cm of clayey sediments mediated by paleosols at the roof, center, and base, as well as two unconformities. Due to the interest that “Núcleo14” has, the need was raised to see if it held evidence of precipitation events in the basin, at least, during the last millennium. For this it was necessary, through lithostratigraphy, tephrostratigraphy, pedostratigraphy, and chemostratigraphy, to find paleoclimatic sensors that not only solved the objective but also specified the presence of global and local volcanic events, precipitation, and drought, and provided answers to understand the formation of the sedimentary deposit, define environments and determine the average sedimentation rate (1cm/year), achieving clarity on the paleoclimatic conditions that occurred, in the last 1000 years AD, in the said basin. The most relevant results that define the achieved objective are expressed in tables, maps, figures, and documents in Excel/.kml/.jpg/.doc formats, which constitute useful open data for the scientific community.
