Abstract

The stratigraphy comprises units that formed from orogenesis to Hercynian granitization. A description of the structural height of the Floresta Massif (area between Duitama and Pesca) from the late Paleozoic is presented. At the beginning of the Cretaceous, a different epicontinental-euxinic sedimentation domain is installed, represented in the Cumbre Formation. From the Hauterivian onwards, the whole trans-Jurassic basin is interbedded with the basin facies. The Paleogene continental sedimentation follows the Cretaceous marine sedimentation with the conformation of the Sogamoso and Cundinamarca basins.

The mineral resources are represented by kaolinitic clays belonging to the Cumbre Formation, limestones of the Tibasosa and Rosablanca Formations, phosphorite and top-dressing material of the Plaeners Formation, asphalts of the Labor and Tierna Formations, and sands suitable for construction in the Bogotá and Tilatá Formations.
